Wedding Morning Tips
Here are a few last minute tips to help keep your wedding morning fun & stress free!
Pack an Emergency Supplies Kit
You won’t believe how many times I’ve heard the call “HAS ANYONE GOT ANY SCISSORS??” on a wedding morning. Some of the most stressful moments I’ve witnessed have come from – broken zips on bridesmaid’s dresses, make up on the wedding dress and forgotten trousers (the groom’s). Now, I’m not suggesting you need to pack spare trousers… but maybe write up a checklist for the day before!
Here are some things to include:
- Small Scissors
- Emergency sewing kit (with thread that matches your wedding colours!)
- Safety Pins
- Mini deodorant
- Packs of tissues
- Cotton Buds
- Drugs (painkillers, anti-histamines, heartburn tablets)
- Kirby grips
- Tit Tape (has many uses!)
- Plasters
- Period Supplies
- Tweezers
- Snacks & Water
- SPF & Insect Repellent / Umbrellas (season dependent)
- Make Up Remover
- Dental Floss
- Mints
- All outfits. If you are wearing a shirt, take a spare, especially in summer.
- Backup dancing shoes in case your feet hurt
The Day/s Before
- Remove stickers from the soles of shoes and break them in around the house
- Cut tags out of clothes
- Remove any X threads still on suits and unstitch top pocket if you need to for a pocket square
- If there are any particular details you want photographed, pop them in a box, ready for me on the day
- Drink lots of water
- Wear SPF!
- If you want a ‘first look’ shot with a family member, tell them not to come into the room until they are called!
- If you want a dress/outfit hanging up shot, pack a nice hanger. It doesn’t have to be fancy, plain wood is fine.
Getting Ready
- Designate a dark corner of the room for the mess. If it’s a dark corner you can pretty much guarantee I won’t be using it for photos anyway, and you can keep all the carrier bags, rubbish and discarded underwear out of your shots!
- Get ready near a window or in plenty of natural light.
- Save any gifts until I get there.
- Keep outfits and make-up apart!
- Eat breakfast
- Take any flowers out of water 30 minutes before you leave (ask someone to do this).
- RELAX and have fun!
