Colourful Sugarloaf Barn Wedding | When Maya married Lasse

Maya + Lasse planned the colourful Sugarloaf Barn wedding of dreams! It was a beautiful fusion of Danish and Welsh wedding traditions combined with a stunning Welsh wedding venue, and so much colour and joy.

Sugarloaf Barn Wedding

Maya and Lasse loved Sugarloaf Barn but wanted to add a splash of colour, which turned out so beautifully. Maya’s sister hand-painted wooden castanets for every wedding guest which was such a wonderful favour idea, they got a lot of use on the day!

They had the most beautiful ceremony with several readings, lots of friends getting involved, and some singalongs! The guests all sang to Welsh hymn Calon Lan and All You Need is Love by The Beatles. There were tears all around and so much joy.

It rained on and off for much of the day, at points we were going outside to try and do the confetti and family photos, then back in, then back out, and so on until eventually we just decided to do it all in the rain!

Determined to add as many Danish touches as possible, Maya wanted to include the Danish Christmas present game and have a Pakkeleg! This was absolutely hilarious and resulted in some of the most chaotic moments I’ve ever photographed at a wedding. For those who don’t know, it involves Christmas presents, dice, and stealing from each other! The gifts were all brought by the guests and consisted of fancy dress items for the evening – genius.

A blonde wedding guests is standing next to a table, holding a wrapped present in her hand, while pointing at someone off camera with her other. She is wearing a large pair of novelty plastic glasses that say Happy, all the other guests at the table are laughing.

One thing Maya and Lasse knew they didn’t want was a first dance, so they asked one of their groomsmen to surprise them with a circus performance. This turned out to be a hula hoop show with guest (and groom!) participation – it was SO much fun.
